Zawji — Islamic matchmaking platform

1. General Provisions

This Privacy Policy (hereinafter — "Policy") defines the procedures for processing and protecting personal data of users of the ZAWJI platform (hereinafter — "Platform", "we", "us").

ZAWJI is a matchmaking platform based on Islamic principles, created to facilitate introductions for the purpose of nikah (Islamic marriage). The Platform operates as a Telegram Mini App and web application.

By using the Platform, you confirm that you have read this Policy and consent to the processing of your personal data as described herein.

2. Data We Collect

2.1. Registration Data

• Gender, name (nickname), age
• City of residence, nationality
• Physical parameters (height, weight)
• Marital status, number of previous nikahs, children
• Personal description ("About me")

2.2. Special Categories of Personal Data

We process the following special categories of data based on your explicit consent:

• Religious beliefs: information about religious denomination and observance of religious practices (prayer)
• Screening data: answers to behavioral questions (alcohol, drugs, etc.) — visible only to moderators

2.3. Telegram Data

• Telegram ID (for authentication)
• Telegram Mini App authorization data (verified via HMAC-SHA256)
• We do not access your contacts, messages, or other Telegram data

2.4. Photos

Photos are uploaded voluntarily during the photo exchange stage and undergo moderation. Photos are only visible to users with mutual interest (for women — after they confirm mutual interest), and to Platform moderators. Women's photos are moderated exclusively by female moderators — male moderators do not have access to them.

2.5. Chat Data

Content of messages in Platform chats. Communication takes place in the presence of observers (witnesses) in accordance with Islamic customs — see Section 5 for details.

2.6. Technical Data

• IP address, device type, browser version
• Platform usage data (actions, visit timestamps)
• Push notification data (subscription tokens)

3. Purposes of Data Processing

• Account creation and management
• Matching potential partners based on specified parameters
• Providing chat and notification functionality
• Content moderation and ensuring user safety
• Payment processing (Connects purchases)
• Compliance with legal requirements
• Improving Platform quality

4. Legal Basis for Processing

• Consent — the primary basis for processing personal data
• Explicit consent — for processing special categories of data: religious beliefs and screening data
• Contract performance — for processing data necessary to provide Platform services
• Legitimate interest — for ensuring security, preventing fraud, and improving the service

5. Chat Monitoring

Messages may be viewed by:

• Platform moderators — to ensure compliance with rules
• Automated moderation systems (AI) — to detect violations
• Wali (guardian) — via a user-provided read-only access link
• Designated witnesses — if specified during registration

By using chat on the Platform, you give explicit consent to this communication format in accordance with applicable privacy of correspondence laws.

6. Data Storage and Protection

Personal data is stored on secure servers. We implement technical and organizational measures to protect data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Retention period: data is retained for the duration of Platform use and deleted within 30 days of account deletion.

7. Third-Party Data Sharing

We do not sell or share your data with third parties, except:

• Telegram — for authentication and payment processing via Telegram Stars
• Payment systems (YooMoney, etc.) — for processing Connects payments

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access information about your personal data that we process
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data (account deletion)
• Withdraw consent to data processing
• Request export of your data in a machine-readable format

Account deletion. You can delete your account yourself in the app: Profile → "Danger zone" → "Delete my profile". Data is kept for up to 30 days to allow restoration, after which it is subject to deletion; full erasure without the restoration window is available on request. Learn more: Account Deletion.

9. EU/EEA Users (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you are additionally guaranteed rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)

• Right to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)
• Right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority
